The Product

Specialist mould and mildew treatment for offshore wind turbine interiors

A specialist antimicrobial formulation designed to eliminate biological contamination and provide residual protection between maintenance cycles.

How It Works

Dual antimicrobial action: eliminate and protect

TurbineClean uses a dual-action antimicrobial system combining a quaternary ammonium compound (benzalkonium chloride type) and biphenyl-2-ol for both immediate biocidal action and ongoing surface protection.

The QAC disrupts microbial cell membranes on contact and adsorbs onto surfaces — it does not simply rinse away. The result is a molecular antimicrobial layer that inhibits microbial regrowth.

Dual-Action System

Stage 1: Immediate Kill

QAC disrupts microbial cell membranes on contact, eliminating mould, mildew, and biofilm.

Stage 2: Residual Protection

QAC adsorbs onto surfaces, creating a molecular antimicrobial layer that inhibits regrowth.

Complementary Action

Biphenyl-2-ol broadens the antimicrobial spectrum and reinforces the residual effect.

Formulation Profile

Engineered for confined spaces, offshore logistics, and marine compliance

Every attribute has been verified against the documented challenges of working inside offshore wind turbines.

Water-based, non-flammable

A water-based liquid formulation with no flash point and no vapour ignition hazard.

Barely perceptible odour

Does not flood confined spaces with volatile fumes. Work without respiratory distress.

Mildly alkaline (pH ~8)

Effective enough for cleaning activity, mild enough to preserve coatings and seals.

Readily biodegradable

No PBT, no vPvB, no endocrine disruptors, no REACH-listed substances.

Concentrate format

More cleaning capacity per delivery. Less weight, less volume for offshore logistics.

Not regulated for transport

No UN number. No packing group. No diamond labels. Ships without restriction.

Stable and non-reactive

Chemically stable under normal conditions. No hazardous decomposition products.

Surface Compatibility

Safe across the full range of turbine interior materials

Painted steel with anti-corrosion coatings (epoxy, polyurethane)
Bare steel at weld points, bolt heads, and ladder frames
Composite materials including GRP and CFRP
Aluminium components, fasteners, coolers, and brackets
Rubber seals and elastomers in hydraulic systems
Electrical components including cables and junction boxes
Hot-dip galvanised surfaces including ladders and platforms

What this product is — and what it is not

TurbineClean is specifically formulated to eliminate mould, mildew, and biological contamination. It is not a degreaser. It is not a replacement for products that remove hydraulic oil or heavy mechanical contamination.

Best practice is to degrease first, then treat biological contamination. TurbineClean does the second job. It sits alongside your degreasing products in the maintenance protocol, not in place of them.
